Retirement Villages Legislation
The Retirement Villages Act 1999 (RV Act) provides the law relating to the establishment and operation of retirement villages in Queensland. It is available for download from the Office of Queensland Parliamentary Counsel.
Amendments to the Retirement Villages Act
The RV Act was amended by The Housing Legislation (Building Better Futures) Amendment Act 2017 on 10 November 2017.
This Act introduces new standards for operators and residents of retirement villages, and builds better consumer protection for people in Queensland to ensure they have a secure place to call home. Other changes will be introduced in the future.
ARQRV has produced a range of informative fact sheets about changes to the Retirement villages Act 1999.
The Queensland Government has introduced the Right Where You Live initiative to, among other things, assist residents understand these changes.
